Shannon and I did a mini trip to the San Jacinto State Wilderness while it was still warm in the higher elevations. We rode the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and hiked in about 2 1/2 miles so that we could camp at the Lotus campsite, which is at about 9,200 feet. This is my first backpack trip in years due to foot and joint issues. This little overnight trip proved to be a lot of fun and things held up pretty well.
Once we hiked in and set up camp, we explored the area and found a nearby boulder to play around on. We had brought along our climbing shoes and chalk bag just in case, so they came in handy.
