Discovering the Ideal Backpack Campsite
One of the side treks I made on Wednesday when I was up at San Jacinto was down an unmarked trail near Round Valley. As it turns out, there are several backpack campsite off this trail. The best one was "Lotus," which had a tremendous private view of the valley below and other distant peaks. I would love to make a one-night trip up there and try my hand at backpacking after a several year sabbatical (due to foot problems). Maybe I'll have to talk Shannon into a weekday outing!

The last photo includes a tent that's tucked up into the trees near the rocks. It's a yellow tent and it's rather hard to see here since it kind of blends in. What a room with a view!
